Justin Smith is the winner of the Public Safety Hero of the Quarter award. Given by 1st on Scene Fire & Emergency Services and Eastern Medical Support, Justin’s nomination received the most votes out of those received. Below is what his nominee had to say:
“Justin Smith is a member of the Fort Plain Fire Department, he has been a member since he turned 14 years old and was a junior member. He is now the training officer and provides training for his fellow members. Hisgoal is to provide quality important updated training to keep his fellow firefighters safe.
Justin is also a Paramedic with GAVAC. He is a hard worker and continually takes extra classes and takes extra hours when asked. He has received a life saving award from GAVAC and he loves his job.
Justin is also a Deputy Coordinator for EMS of Montgomery County. He continually responds to emergencies throughout the County to assist other agencies in an attempt to keep all safe and healthy.
The unique thing about Justin is that he is only 21 years old. He has an associates degree from SUNY Cobleskill and continues to work hard with learning as much as he can. It is rare to see a young person so dedicated to a profession and service. I am proud to have Justin as my son and work with me at many different types of emergency scenes including as a fellow firefighter.
